TBIS 2025 Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (Zhejiang, China)

Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU) was founded in 1897 by Lin Qi, governor of Hangzhou prefecture then, with the noble ambition to save the nation by engaging in industry and education, and was one of the earliest new-learning educational institutions ever founded in China.

 

ZSTU now is a provincial key university focusing on engineering, with distinct characteristics and advantages as well as the coordinated development of the various disciplines of sciences, engineering, arts, economics, management, law, fine art, education, etc. ZSTU consists of 19 affiliated schools or colleges and 1 independent college, offers study programs for undergraduates, masters and doctors. The disciplines of material sciences, chemistry and engineering, botany and zoology are listed among the global top 3‰, 2‰ and 1% by ESI, the discipline of textile science and engineering is at the top-level in China.

 

ZSTU has 4 postdoctoral research stations, 8 doctoral degree first-level disciplines, 24 master’s degree first-level disciplines, and 59 undergraduate’s majors including 28 national first-class undergraduate majors, 8 national (Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, MOE) characteristic majors, 1 MOE comprehensive reform trial major, 6 MOE “Outstanding Engineer Education and Cultivation Project” trial majors, 8 majors accredited by the China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA), and 10 Zhejiang provincial higher education top-key disciplines.

 

ZSTU has ever been attaching importance to scientific research work, the research strength has been progressively enhanced, and ZSTU has successfully undertaken series of national sci-tech planning projects, as well as other national or provincial research projects in various fields. ZSTU has won 8 second prizes of National Technological Invention Award, 9 second prizes of National Sci-tech Progress Award, and over 370 provincial or ministry prizes.  

 

ZSTU has been sticking to its open schooling, has established its cooperation with 155 educational and sci-tech research institutions of over 46 countries and regions, has cooperatively established 2 Confucius Institutes with University of Mauritius and University of Suriname, and the education for international students has been rapidly developing.
ZSTU is sparing no efforts to carry forward its school spirit of “pursuing truth and uprightness”, to take new opportunities and start new journeys in the new era, and to stride forward to build the university into a high-level teaching-research-style institution of distinct characteristics as soon as possible.
