Future Symposium
TBIS 2025 Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (Zhejiang, China)

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) originated from the discipline of Silk Fiber Materials and Textiles in June 2019. The School of Fiber Engineering was initially established in December 1994 and later renamed the School of Materials and Textiles in December 1999. At present, the MSE school has highly competitive faculties and state-of-the-art research facilities.

The MSE School has 2 departments of polymer materials and materials engineering, including bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral research programs. In specific, the MSE discipline was certified as the “Grade-A” Zhejiang Provincial Higher Education Top-Key Discipline and accredited by the China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA), which is one of the prominent disciplines approved in Zhejiang Province. In addition, the MSE discipline has been ranked among the top 1% of the global Essential Science Indicator (ESI) since 2012 and recently reached the top 5‰ worldwide in 2020.

The School of MSE currently has over 100 full-time faculty members including 30 doctoral supervisors. We have one academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and one academician of Japanese Academy of Engineering. Based on the frontiers of international science, the MSE School actively conducts fundamental and applied research in polymer material engineering, high-performance fibers, composite materials, biomedical materials, and new energy materials to meet domestic primary strategic policy demand and regional economic development. The School of MSE has also established 6 national-level joint research platforms (including the Joint National Laboratory of Engineering, the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education, and the Platform for International Technological Exchange and Cooperation) and eight provincial-level research platforms (such as the Key Engineering Laboratory of Zhejiang Province, the International Technological Cooperation Base, “2011 Collaborative Innovation Center”, and the International Joint Research Center), and co-founded eight Joint Innovation Service Centers with local industrial enterprises. Furthermore, our faculties have conducted numerous research projects supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and other national research sponsors, and have won  3 national academic awards and more than 50 provincial-level awards.
