Since its establishment in 2008, the Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Society (TBIS) has, over 16 years, grown its annual conference into a highly respected and internationally renowned professional academic event within the industry. TBIS has effectively promoted the development of the emerging discipline of textile bioengineering, facilitating multidisciplinary collaborations across materials science, fibre and textile science and engineering, fashion design and art, marketing, and the information engineering of the entire industrial value chain. TBI has organised various academic exchange activities, including international seminars, industry forums, cooperation forums, and scientific testing methods and standards development. TBIS also publishes international peer-reviewed annual conference proceedings and its official academic journal, the Journal of Fiber Bioengineering and Informatics.
Over the years, TBIS has supported and observed the career development of academic scholars at all levels, from student volunteers to PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers, young lecturers, associated professors and professors, and internationally renowned scholars. We've developed a deep understanding of the challenges and difficulties that graduate students and young scholars face in academic writing and generating high-quality research outputs, which induces great mental stresses and worries, particularly for research students and young scholars. To address these challenges, TBIS has initiated an Academic Paper Writing Workshop to nurture promising talents by providing training to enhance their research and academic writing skills.
Workshop Aim:
The TBIS Academic Paper Writing Workshop aims to nurture the next generation of scholars by providing training in scientific research methodologies and academic writing techniques. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including literature reviews, scientific papers, fashion design, historical research in textile and fashion technology, market trends, industry development, digitisation in the supply chain, sustainable development, and more. Participants will have the opportunity to present their papers at TBIS international conferences and receive constructive feedback from global experts. This process is designed to enhance academic research and writing skills, fostering the creation of outstanding academic work. Additionally, participants can expand their professional network and explore potential international collaborations and career development opportunities.
Past workshops have proven highly effective. After obtaining training, participants made significant improvements in their academic writing. Some of them obtained outstanding research paper awards after peer review, scored, and selected by internal experts at the TBIS conference, and published their papers in peer-reviewed journals. The workshop offers comprehensive guidance and training to participants, including refining research focus, clarifying thinking logic, deepening academic arguments, performing data analysis, and presenting research findings succinctly.
